Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy In Chicago and Indiana

A very common treatment for small varicose and spider veins, sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution into the target veins that causes them to scar and collapse, causing blood to reroute through other, healthier veins. After the procedure, the treated veins fade, improving the appearance of varicose veins and relieving pain, swelling and cramping associated with venous insufficiency.

Sclerotherapy - treatment for varicose veins and spider veins

There are alternative treatments for varicose veins, including vein ablation, which uses radiofrequency or laser energy to close varicose veins, and vein stenting, in which a mesh tube is inserted in larger veins, opening up narrowed veins and holding them open.

Sclerotherapy, vein ablation and vein stenting at NG Vascular & Vein Center are outpatient procedures, so patients will return home the same day. Patients should generally be able to begin resuming normal daily activities within a few days.
