Angioplasty and Stent
Similar to an atherectomy, an angioplasty is a minimally-invasive procedure performed to increase blood flow to the extremities, usually the legs and feet, and relieve the symptoms of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). During this procedure, a balloon-tipped catheter is fed through a small cut in the skin through the arterial system to the site of the blood vessel that has become narrowed by plaque. There, the balloon is inflated, the plaque is compressed and broken up, and the vessel is widened. Afterwards, blood flow improves, relieving the symptoms of Peripheral Artery Disease.
NG Vascular & Vein Center offers this as an outpatient procedure, so patients can expect to return home the same day, usually with just a band-aid. Recovery time is minimal, and patients should expect to begin returning to normal daily activities in a few days.
