Plantar Fasciitis Embolization (PFE)
Plantar Fasciitis Embolization (PFE)
PFE is a safe, minimally invasive option for those whose plantar fasciitis has not healed, or for those who are unable to wait up to 12 months for the symptoms to go away. It is a clinically proven outpatient procedure with have an excellent safety profile and success record.1
Performed by an interventional radiologist, PFE is performed entirely inside the body. Using imaging guidance, the doctor guides a very small catheter into a blood vessel in the leg. The catheter is advanced through the bloodstream to the small arteries that feed the fascia. The doctor then cuts off the blood supply to the inflamed tissue using an injection of tiny particles. Without inflammation, the tissue heals naturally while reducing pain and discomfort.

Dr. Golewale of NG Vascular is one of the first doctors to offer this treatment on an outpatient basis in the United States. If you do not wish to have surgery and are looking for a less invasive way to treat painful plantar fasciitis, this procedure may be right for you.
To find out if you’re a candidate, we invite you to schedule a consultation by calling the locations most convenient for you. We’ll share the pros and cons of all treatment options so that you can make an informed decision about which treatment is right for you.
